Happy pups that Island Dogz has placed

in loving furever homes:

______________________________________________

Chantel came to TUAPA very sick with tick borne diseases and ulcers which very painful.

Chantel, now Kayda, is part of a 4 dog pack! She is loving every minute of her new life in Nanaimo. She is still working to overcome some anxiety but has a great family to love her and teach her that she can relax and enjoy life!

Snoopy (Shylo never really stuck!) is now living very happily with her new mum in Victoria.  She recently enjoyed a trip to Tofino (to the beach....with water, waves and sand to dig in!) and is a completely different dog from the shutdown and shy dog who first came to us! She is now outgoing, exuberant and  spoiled!

Stevie, a testament to overcoming any obstacle! Stevie had both eyes removed due to painful glaucoma. He is now exploring life with his nose, enjoying island life and showing everyone that there is nothing sad about being a blind dog!

Another foster failure! Whimsy is living a dogs life in Vancouver.

Tawny is a foster failure! She is learning that life doesn't have to be a scary place and coming to Canada was worth the trip!

Bruno is now a happy boy living with his two furry brothers in Victoria!

Ace now has a great home in Duncan with 4 kids...his favorite :)

A- Tou was adopted immediately by past Schnauzer owners that were surprised to have their newest come from Taiwan to Courtenay.

Bailey now is in Victoria with a great young couple and Cat sister

Bo spent years on the streets of Taiwan and then years in the TUAPA  shelter. He finally has a cozy condo and trails to walk everyday in North Van...oh ya he has a great new Mom and Dad too :)

Johnny went from a neglected outside-only dog of 24 owned by a hoarder in Saskatchewan to a single spoiled pup living in Vancouver :)

Christi is the last of her family of 4 siblings to come to Canada..and ironically they all ended up in Victoria. She is sooo loved and planning a family reunion with Shane, Hank and Gracie

Found on the streets of Taiwan, JJ was malnourished and almost totally bald and raw from mange and scabies. TUAPA took him in and spent months treating his poor skin. JJ has left all that behind and lives in Nanaimo  with his new mom enjoying river hikes everyday!

Simon is one of the most dramatic before & afters you'll ever see. Starved, broken and rampaged with mange, he was rescued and treated  by TUAPA. Now he is living it up in Victoria and is a very happy camper :)

I love 'em all.... but Dane is special!

He came to us after a twisted journey from Taiwan and was shown abuse on both sides of the world. He was extremely fearful, but his strong desire to love and be loved helped him overcome his traumatic past. After months of rehabilitation and confidence building, Dane has been adopted by a great young couple on the mainland that have just the perfect energy and desire to learn about what a dog like Dane needs to continue his journey as a confident joyful dog!

Dottie:

She was found on a Taiwanese HWY in 2006 with a crushed leg, as and with the many dogs that are hit and abandoned, she suffered a long time before rescue came. She had her leg amputated and lived a safe but not so wonderful 4 years in the shelter. Her luck has changed and she now is Ginger with the love of a family in Sidney.

Foxy:

She was caught as a stray in Taiwan as part of a TNR (trap-neuter-release) program. She was spayed and her eat "tipped" ready to be returned to the street. Apon waking after surgery, this little Shiba cross was so outgoing and friendly the vets knew that she would be an easy target on the street. So she was brought back to TUAPA shelter, then to us, and now she is starting a new phase as adored family pup in Nanoose

Loki:

(now Diesel) spent his first 10 months tied to a chain with another dog and no shelter, even through a long cold Smithers winter. A private rescuer brought him hay and food, but it wasn't till the other dog left him with a wounded scalp in the spring that the owner finally released him to come here to find a home. He now has a family with two kids to grow up with in Mill Bay

Chewy:

This handsome fella now has a sister (and wonderful humans too :)  He is spoiled rotten in Vancouver now! What a difference from the past 4 years in a Taiwan shelter, where he was brought as as unwanted , but incredibly cute furball pup .

Honey

(now Marley) was an outside dog near Smithers who was left to roam free. She discovered the neighbor's chicken coup proved a diversion for her loneliness and boredom, but that ended her up being threatened very seriously with a shotgun. The owner then handed her over  and she was flown down to us. She now is a very spoiled and cozy indoor dog in Burnaby

Sara

(now Jingles) was hit by a car and left on the street with a broken leg. By the time she got vet care, her leg needed to be amputated. This girl didn't let it get her down tho and adapted well while in Taiwan and now is a pampered gardeners helper in Victoria.

Maska:

Maska (aka Hershey) came to Canada as a shut down, anxious and fearful boy.  He is now living it up with his older sister Nikita (a CRD rescue, on the left) and new family in Victoria, who love him to pieces and are working very hard to show him that life in Canada is so worth the trip! He is learning that beaches, hiking and cuddling are what life should be about!

Bandit:

This gorgeous guy is now is happily living happy in Duncan with a new brother! He's come along way from a shelter in Taiwan. He still has a twisted leg to show for his rough start in life... but he doesn't let it slow him down one bit! You should see this two playing  !!

Clyde:

This big fella was adopted almost immediately by a couple that fell for him on the Coming Soon page and were just waiting for him to become available. He was exactly what they were looking for and he fit in with them perfectly!  He is one lucky pup indeed... Imagine just a week or so before he was spending his last days in a lonely pound on the mainland!

Abby:

We didn't need to post this girl as adoptable as her temporary caregivers failed FOSTERING 101 and decided she was a keeper. She has acreage, horses and cats to "play with" and a great mom and dad too! A far cry from "death row" in a mainland pound.

 Heidi:

This wee girl that was found with a broken leg after being hit by a car on the streets of Taiwan is fully healed and jumping for joy. She now has a wee girl in Victoria to call her own, and a pretty great Mom and Dad too!

 Vixen (Our Superstar):

Well our media star has been adopted by a young woman who fell in love even before Vixen's face graced newpapers Canada wide and before her TV and youtube debut strolling through the park. She is now retired and happily living in a lovely home just blocks from Dallas Road, where she will be sure to sign autographs to her fans at the dog park ;)

Imagine she was going to be dinner...

Caper:

This beauty was surrendered locally after a family break up. Now a spoiled gal and one and only pet that happily gets ALL her new Mom's time and attention. She is thrilled to be living less than a block from the ocean in Campbell River and runs on the beach everyday! What more could a dog want?!?

Amber:

This lil girl now good life is a comfy spot by the fire with a new big sister, Mocha. A far cry from a stray on the streets, Baby is now a farm girl enjoying acres of fields to romp in and a family to love.

Before forming Island Dogz, we opened our home and hearts to foster dogs from several local rescues.  Fostering a dog is one the most rewarding thing I've ever done.  It's heartwarming to take a scared, injured or untrained dog, and watch them blossom under your care.  These dogs have also gone onto to wonderful through the great efforts of Furever After Small Dog Rescue, Dogs Deserve Better Rescue and Dogwood Sporting Dog Rescue.

Island Dogz is in great need of loving foster families to offer temporary care to our dogs.  The length of time commitment required varies from a few days for emergency placement, to several months if dogs need medical or behavioural rehabilitaion. Our foster homes are provided with training and support, as well as expenses for the dogs. We do ask that families provide good quality food if possible, so funds can be used for veteranarianlan or behaviouralist services. If you have a great environment to offer but cost of food is a obstacle, we will help with that as well. Foster families are also given first priority if they decide that they just can't part with their dog(s).
